Signs/Symptoms of a Cryptic Pregnancy:
During a cryptic pregnancy, most women will experience the typical symptoms of pregnancy such as:
-Nausea/vomiting
-Over sensitive gag reflex
-Fatigue
-Frequent urination
-Food aversions
-Food cravings
-Increased appetite
-Decreased appetite
-Weight gain
-Weight loss
-Increased sense of smell
-Hearing problems including Tinnitus (ringing in the ears)
-Heart burn
-Bloating
-Gas
-Mood swings
-Constipation
-Diarrhea
-Back, hip, shoulder and leg pain
-Metallic taste in mouth
-Abdominal cramping/round ligament pain
-Headaches
-Dizziness/light headedness
-Feeling out of breath
-Muscle aches
-Hemorrhoids
-Breast changes including increase in size/fullness, sensitivity, itching, feeling of heaviness, leaking colostrum and shooting pain
-Vision problems including dry eyes and blurry vision
-Skin pigment changes including linea nigra and the "mask of pregnancy"
-Skin tags
-Excessive saliva
-Heart palpitations
-Hot and cold flashes
-Excessive sweating
-Insomnia
-Skin problems such as acne, rashes, PUPP, and general itching
-Bleeding and/or swollen gums and other dental problems
*These symptoms will vary in severity for each individual. They may not be as severe as in a normal pregnancy and they may come and go due to the pregnancy hormones being "incorrect".
*During a cryptic pregnancy there will be signs and symptoms that are not typical during a "standard" pregnancy. These include:
-Negative urine and blood pregnancy tests
-Negative ultrasounds when there is a uterine abnormality (see ultrasounds during cryptic pregnancy)
-Continued "odd periods"
-Inconsistent pregnancy symptoms, "feeling" pregnant will come and go
-Slow growth of the abdomen/pregnant belly
-Inconsistent fetal movement
Continued Periods During a Cryptic Pregnancy:
Periods/menses during cryptic pregnancy do not stop, they become "odd". The "odd periods" are indicative of a cryptic pregnancy. The continued periods can be light, heavy, or only spotting. They can be very short, or very long. There may be large or tiny clots, or none at all. The blood can be pink, red, orange, yellow, brown, purple or black. It can be very thick or it can be very thin and watery. It can also have a mucus like texture to it. The "odd periods" will not stay regular or predictable. They may get very erratic. You may spot or bleed non-stop for weeks or months. You may have multiple periods in a month. The periods can stop and start over a few days or weeks. They may not stay predictable or regular. Each period can also be different from the last. It is very common to miss months of periods, not get a positive test and then the periods return. The odd periods do not threaten the pregnancy, no matter how heavy, painful or long.
